Yum!

Many years ago, we became interested in wild mushrooms; specifically morels, because those were the only ones we could confidently identify. We were delighted to find them growing on the property, standing up proudly as if to say "eat me".

This fall, we discovered more edible mushrooms, this time growing on a cottonwood tree in our grove; oyster mushrooms!

They were pretty small when we first spotted them, so we left them for a few days.

3 days elapsed between taking the photo on the left and the one on the right.

These are only 3 feet off the ground, so they're easy to harvest.

We found a simple recipe https://familystylefood.com/sauteed-oyster-mushrooms/ and had a few feasts.

I just wish we'd known about these oyster mushrooms years ago. We'll point out the tree to the new owners, once the property sells!
