Country people love a good fire. Every spring and fall we're out there, cleaning up branches and other burnable debris (after checking the ventilation index, of course).

We were just out burning the other day, and it always brings back fond memories of when we were developing the property. Burn piles were really frequent back then, and we would often have a dinner of veggie dogs cooked over the open flames.

Once, the flames were so hot that we couldn't get close enough to roast the veggie dogs, so we ended up using the picnic table as a shield.
Country people are resourceful.
